Mission
The Actuarial Science Club at Portland State University aims to build a supportive community for students interested in actuarial science and related fields. Our mission is to provide academic resources, professional development opportunities, and peer-to-peer support to help members succeed in actuarial exams, career exploration, and leadership growth. We strive to connect students with industry professionals, foster collaboration through study groups and workshops, and promote awareness of the actuarial profession on campus.

The Portland State University chapter of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) is formed to advance the following objectives:



-To nurture building of community by bridging science and technology with traditional Native American values.
-To assist students with the academic, financial, and social challenges of college life.
-To develop student leadership skills.
-To help with outreach programs.
-To bring bring cultural programs to the PSU campus.
-To improve the social and academic climate on campus for all students, including American Indians.



Through chapter activities, members can help themselves, fellow students, and the community. In addition, AISES will encourage programs that promote retention and graduation of Native American students, who will be informed leaders within the indigenous and greater communities. AISES strives to be a catalyst for the advancement of American Indians as they seek to become self-reliant and self-determined members of society.

The American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) at Portland State University is a dynamic and passionate student organization dedicated to fostering a vibrant and inclusive community of aspiring architects and design enthusiasts. The purpose of this club is to unite and organize Central American students towards better development at PSU by learning about our countries and creating unity through the expression of being from Central America or having Central American descent. We will join together to share information about our countries of origin, help one another, and create a visible Central American unity to foster respect for our cultures and identities. We hope to improve the conditions of the Central American diaspora at PSU in all aspects and realms related to academia. Including advocating for more representation, an inclusive academic curriculum related to the history of our countries, and for the institution and instructors to acknowledge our unique Central American heritage distinct from Chicanx/Mexican heritage.

This organization will strengthen connections between Chinese students and scholars to help them adapt and enjoy their lives in Portland. The first "cafe mortel" was founded in 2004 by a Swiss anthropologist, later taking off in England and beyond in 2011. Ideally with cake and tea, it is meant for like minded and curious people to come together to discuss death and dying.

We are striving to foster this environment at PSU through discussions, film screening, readings, guest speakers and more. The topic of death is vast and we encourage you to reach out if you have any questions, or better yet come to a club meeting and learn from your peers!

As a student organization we want to emphasize this is a space for education and advocacy. We encourage you to check out SHAC if you are ever in need of a more professional support system for dealing with grief or other mental health situations.

The East African Student Association at PSU is dedicated to celebrating, preserving, and sharing the rich cultures, languages, and traditions of East Africa. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive community where students of East African descent, and allies who wish to learn and engage, can connect, grow, and feel at home. Our work goes beyond events, it’s about building bridges. From cultural nights, food festivals, and traditional music and dance performances to language workshops and storytelling sessions, we showcase the beauty and diversity of East African heritage while fostering cultural pride, awareness, and meaningful connections across campus. At the same time, we are deeply committed to supporting students academically, socially, and personally. Portland has a deep electronic dance music (EDM) subculture. As students of PSU, we want to bring those like-minded individuals together and show that raving and EDM is more than social media posts. We strive to demonstrate how the EDM community better the overall community at PSU and beyond. Meetings and informational posts from our social media are targeted to bring awareness to campus-based artists, creatives, and highlight events that are important to us. Our goal is to break down the stigmas within the EDM community. A mantra we hold dearly is Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect (PLUR) which holds great importance to how we present ourselves in and out of the community.

To unite students in the common interest of participation, discussion, and collaboration in competitive collegiate Esports video games. Our goal is to foster a strong, team-oriented, and positive environment where students can develop their skills, compete in tournaments and events at the collegiate level, and represent Portland State University with pride. Through doing so, students will develop leadership skills, gain experience in a team-based environment, build a diverse and inclusive community, and gain exposure to networking opportunities. We also welcome students who are passionate about Esports and would like to support the club through other means such as spectating events, organizing teams, and general discussion of the Esports scene.

Ratio Christi is a student organization that seeks to (1) Strengthen the faith of Christian students and faculty by equipping them to give reasons and evidence for their beliefs, (2) Offer skeptics, atheists and agnostics a non-threatening place in which to discuss their objections to the claims of Christianity as well as ask questions, and (3) Host campus-wide events featuring Christian thinkers, apologists, scientists, and philosophers in lectures and debates. Our aim is to represent the intellectual viability of the Christian worldview on the university campus and beyond.
