The Cultural Resource Centers are five student spaces that provide resources including computer labs, study and lounge space, leadership opportunities, and programs. All students are welcome in our spaces. Our centers include La Casa Latina Student Center, the Multicultural Student Center, the Native American Student and Community Center, the Pacific Islander, Asian, and Asian American Student Center, and the Pan-African Commons.

The DREAMer Resource Center is a safe and supportive space for all members of the PSU community. Our programs specialize in serving immigrant-origin students—including DACAmented, undocumented, asylum seekers, refugees, and students with Temporary Protected Status (TPS)—alongside friends and supporters who walk in solidarity, regardless of immigration status. The center serves as a central hub where students are represented, celebrated, and connected to direct support tailored to the unique experiences of Dreamers in higher education.

We unapologetically advocate with and for our community to heal historic harms and challenge systemic barriers that have excluded or marginalized students. Through relevant and intentional programming, we strive to foster personal, academic, and professional growth, while building a vibrant and diverse community rooted in empowerment, self-advocacy, persistence, and excellence—at PSU and beyond.

Mission
The PSU Food Pantry was established by a group of students in ASPSU in 2012. We started as a small, student-run pantry on a single shelf, in hopes to better serve the ever-growing food insecure population of students at PSU. Over the years, we have become a partner agency of the Oregon Food Bank, received more financial donations, and changed space, but we continue to be an organization led entirely by students, for students.

Today, we provide food for nearly 300 students a day and work to reduce food waste, which is a major contributor to the climate crisis and environmental damage. We work hard to grant access to the human right to nutritious food in the most efficient way possible and provide a safe, inclusive space for PSU's diverse student population.

Services for Students With Children is building toward a future where all students and their families are celebrated for their unique strengths and needs, and supported with the resources they need to thrive. Student Activities and Leadership Programs (SALP) is the hub for all things student involvement at Portland State. The "members" of Student Activities and Leadership Programs are the officers and staff of the SALP groups and programs. The system automatically adds people as members when you become an officer in one of those groups. Staff and students who ask to join SALP, will be added as a contact for our newsletter but will not have access to member resources until they are added as an officer in their group or program portal.

STUDENT COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT CENTER PROGRAMS:

SERVE YOUR CITY - SHORTS: Have a few hours and want to lend a hand? Sign up for a short Serve Your City volunteer project that matches your interest & availability. These projects are coordinated by the Student Community Engagement Center in partnership with some of our favorite community partners and supported by engaged student leaders. Whether on or off campus, get involved in the community, one service project at a time!

SERVE YOUR CITY - SERIES: Serve alongside fellow PSU students multiple times with the same organization in a given term. Our Serve Your City *Series* opportunities are designed to engage students in multi-week service projects with a specific community partner, allowing you to dig in a bit deeper and return to the same organization multiple times in a term or year. These opportunities are a great way to meet other PSU students, get to know an organization, explore community issues through hands-on service.

STUDENT LEADERS FOR SERVICE is a year-long program that promotes a culture of community engagement on the PSU campus. SLS members serve weekly with a community partner, participate in Friday leadership classes, facilitate group service projects, and help promote a culture of community engagement at PSU. Each SLS member is responsible for serving 4-6 hours/week for the entire academic year at a community organization.

MENTOR: ALDER / PORTLAND STATE is a weekly mentoring program focused on creating strong connections between PSU mentors and Alder Elementary students to support hands-on learning and introduce kids to garden & STEM concepts through an afterschool Eco-Explorers Club. MAPS mentors help run the Eco-Explorers Club on Wednesday afternoons in winter and spring terms (training takes place in Fall).

BIG DAYS & FOCUS WEEKS: Our larger-scale days or weeks of engagement put a spotlight on certain social issues and cultivate a spirit of engagement through service, learning, connection, and reflection. Each of our Big Days and Focus Weeks provide a great opportunity to get out into the community and form connections with other engaged students as you learn, discuss, listen, and engage together to build awareness and work towards positive change around a common cause.

The Student Sustainability Center (SSC) connects sustainability and the student experience at PSU. We offer several programs for students to get involved with sustainability: the Emerging Sustainability Leaders program and the Sustainability Volunteer Program. Our purpose is to offer opportunities for students to get involved with sustainability. Students can build campus community, design on-campus programming, and strengthen their resume.

Find the VRC in Smith! The center offers a place for Veterans and Military-Affiliated students to be involved in campus life. Located in the basement of Smith, it has quiet study spaces, a kitchen area with a fridge and mini-food pantry and a wealth of information about Veteran life on campus. The Wellness and Health Action Team (WHAT) is a team of seven undergraduate peer health educators in the Health Promotion Department at the Center for Student Health and Counseling (SHAC). WHAT staff has the opportunity to talk with their peers about health and wellness topics that directly influence their academic and personal success. In Health Promotion, our goals revolve around a special IDEA. Our goals are to:

Inform the Portland State community about relevant health topics and available resources;
Develop engaging programs on campus to promote healthy decision-making;
Empower students to utilize accessible strategies to achieve long-term health;
Advocate for change in campus policies that facilitate student wellness and success.

The Women’s Resource Center offers leadership opportunities as well as support services. We provide meaningful engagement opportunities for students who want to establish collaborative, feminist-centered leadership skills that will help them advance toward graduation and prepare them for life outside PSU. We also offer Confidential Advocacy services through our Sexual & Relationship Violence Response Program, where students experiencing sexual assault, sexual harrassment, stalking, dating and domestic violence can get one-on-one support and connect to resources both on and off campus.


The WRC advocates for the best educational and campus experience for all members of our community. We accomplish this by advancing social justice, ensuring access to personal empowerment for students of all genders, and by working toward a safe and healthy campus.
