Meet your Wheat

Join the Smallwood Food Pantry for a tour of the Franz Bakery Factory. We’ll gather to take a short bus ride together, turning the commute into a chance to connect before arriving to see the transformation of ingredients into the loaves that land on our shelves and your kitchen counter. This is a unique opportunity to learn the real-world process behind our food system while strengthening our community ties, let's discover the journey of our bread together!

(Students are expected to pay for their own bus fare. Prior to the trip we will reach out via e-mail with more information on where we'll be meeting and the time the bus will be departing!)

Accessibility Note: The walking tour lasts approximately 45 minutes and involves climbing up to eight flights of stairs and walking on various types of flooring. The facility does not have elevators, so guests using mobility aids may find it difficult to navigate safely. We will walk past hot ovens and loud machinery, which may be uncomfortable for some visitors. Please consider your group’s physical needs and reach out with any concerns. Any guest who is not in compliance with safety policies will remain in the Tour Room while the rest of the group tours the factory floor.
