5th Avenue Rental Request

Thank you for your interest in the Fifth Avenue Cinema. 

The second theater in the Fifth Avenue Cinema is often used by student organizations, departments and off- campus organizations for small events and film screenings. This form begins the process of requesting your event in the second cinema. The process is complete when you receive confirmation from the cinema's coordinator and approval from your SALP advisor. 

As a reminder:

  • Your request must be submitted AT LEAST 14 DAYS IN ADVANCE of the event.
  • This rental form is ONLY for FRIDAY, SATURDAY, or SUNDAY rentals. For weekday use, contact Conferences & Events.
  • There is a cost associated with using the second theater.
  • Usage is at the discretion of the leadership of the 5th Avenue Cinema.
  • No amplified sound is permitted in the second theater, nor are any other activities which may interfere with regular film screenings.
  • It is your responsibility to secure a public performance license for any film screened at the cinema. You must ensure that your film usage is in compliance with federal laws related to copy write infringement. Please contact us with any questions about obtaining public screening rights.
  • We are unable to do any additional promotion or advertising of your event. This includes the marquee. This is strictly a space rental.
  • All food and beverage brought in is to stay within the rented theater space, and properly disposed of before departure time.
  • Friday/Saturday rentals can be accommodated between 5:30 pm and 10 pm, Sundays after 1 pm.
  • Rentals do not exceed 4 hours

1. The auditorium is equipped with a digital projector, stereo sound, DVD/BluRay player, and computer. The cinema does not accommodate DCP or 35mm rentals.
2. This is a space rental and not a theatrical booking. It is your responsibility to staff, manage, and promote the screening. We will be available for technical support and concessions.
3. In nonacademic settings, screening films without obtaining permission is a criminal action. You also understand that it is required secure a public performance license for any film screened at the cinema. It is your responsibility to ensure that your film usage is in compliance with federal laws related to copyright infringement.
4. For PSU Departments or Student Organization: You affirm you are a signer on the account referenced in this application, and grant permission for that account to be directly billed for expenses related to the use of the Fifth Avenue Cinema for this event.
5. Event space requests made less than 2 weeks prior to the date of the event may be denied.
6. For Departments and Off-Campus Organizations: Changes or cancellations must be made 48 hours in advance of the event in writing to 5thaverentals@pdx.edu. Cancellations at least 48 hours in advance will not accrue any charges. Changes made with less than 48 hours notice will result in the full fee for the event being assessed. Additionally, it may not be possible to accommodate changes in less than 48 hours. Payment is due the day of the event.
7. For Student Organizations: Changes or cancellations must be made 48 hours in advance of the event in writing to 5thaverentals@pdx.edu. In the case that 5th Avenue Cinema is notified of event cancellations with less than 48 hours notice, the student organization will not be allowed to utilize 5th Avenue Cinema services for the remainder of the fiscal year. Event cancellations caused by acts of nature or other causes unrelated to the student organization do not apply.
8. PSU Students and non-student-fee funded organizations will be charged $18/hour for rentals during regular screening times. PSU staff and departments will be charged $30/hour for rentals during regular screening times. The general public will be charged $100/hour during regular screening times. No rental by any party shall exceed 4 hours.
