Oregon Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It is also a no-kill shelter, so the dogs stay at the facility until they find their families. The group was started in 2007 by two women who, at the time, had 12 years of rescue experience. The dogs come from overcrowded local shelters, owners who can no longer keep their dogs (following an evaluation), and from high-kill shelters all over. Since their first adoption, they have helped over 16,000 pups find their forever homes.
For this project, for this project we'll be taking dogs on a 45-60 minute walk near the Oregon Dog Rescue. We'll encourage good behaviors such as sit, stay, heel, down, and paw. Volunteers MUST have a foundation for walking dogs and experience managing large breed dogs. Dogs are not allowed to interact with outside dogs or humans on walks to prevent reactivity.
What to wear:
- Pants (leggings are ok)
- Closed toed shoes ONLY
- Boots or waterproof shoes (can get slippery)
- NO hats
Please meet us directly at the Oregon Dog Rescue (6100 S Macadam Ave, Portland, OR 97239) no later than your designated time
