After entering a competitive giveaway at this year's Farwest Tradeshow, Plant Science Club has received an EdRack hydroponic teaching system from Rayn Growing Systems. This innovative system will allow the students of Plant Science Club to get hands-on experience with hydroponics and vertical production systems in an educational setting.

Rayn Growing Systems, a Wisconsin-based horticultural lighting company, is committed to supporting plant science, controlled environment agriculture (CEA), and STEM education with their LED lighting systems. The EdRack, featured in the cover image, centers STEM education and NGSS educational standards in the included curricula. Working with the EdRack will allow students to develop relevant skills for in-demand careers in horticulture, sustainability, and multiple STEM fields.

The EdRack comes prepared to run three different labs:
  • EdRack 101: Comprehensive introduction to growing lettuce (3-5 weeks).
  • Nutrient Trials 101: Explore nutrient ratios and their effects on plant growth (3-5 weeks).
  • Sanitation 101: Professional horticultural sanitation best practices (1-day).
The Plant Science Club invites the campus community to learn more about this system during its weekly meetings, held every Tuesday from 12-2pm in SRTC 340.
